STAFF REPORT
Jeff Hyatt
1216 E. Wayne St. North
South Bend, IN 46615
PROPOSAL
The owner proposes to install 122 ft. of 42" [%fight, 2-1/2" spaced
picket fence around approximately 20% of the yard in back of the
house, with one gate made to look like the fence. Materials
include western red cedar 1x4 dog-ear topped pickets,2x4
stringers & gate. Wolmanized red pine 4x4 posts set in 2' cement
(see specs from Schuell Fence, enclosed).
STANDARDS_
New site work should be based upon actual knowledge of the past
appearance of the property found in photographs, drawings, and
'newspapers. New site work should also be appropriate to existing
surrounding site elements in scale, type, and appearance....
Fences shall not extend forward beyand the setback line of the
house.
RECOMMENDATION
The staff recommends that the owner be permitted to install the
fence in his backyard. It would not detract from the site or the
neighborhood, and would be largely obscured from street view by
the house.
