Jefferson <br />Mrs. Dixon reported that this C of A concerned two trees in the <br />treelawn. One has died of Dutch Elm disease and the other may be <br />showing symptoms of the same disease. The property owner wishes to <br />remove these two trees and replant the entire treelawn with a uni- <br />form type of maple. Parks Department has approved and has furnished <br />a list of acceptable maples. Commission discussed the matter and <br />decided to have the existing trees checked by Dave Barncort, Land- <br />scape Architect, before proceeding, to make sure they really are <br />dead. Mrs. Dixon agreed to notify the property owners not to <br />proceed with their plans until after the check. <br />c) 1224 E. Jefferson --EW. <br />Mrs. Dixon reported proposed changes in two of the kitchen windows. <br />1) The rear window, which is not visible from the street, will be <br />enlarged. This change has already been approved based on past . <br />precedent. 2) The other window, which has double -hung sashes, will <br />be replaced with a multipaned window to match the other windows. <br />Permission has been granted. <br />2. Budget and Finance --Computer Quotes <br />Mrs. Dixon has no positive action to report but has made progress <br />in deciding on a new computer for the commission. She has found. <br />a computer for $1395, which is $400 less than any previous quotes. <br />She stated that it was a better computer and hoped that the state <br />office would also approve the acquisition of a printer to go with <br />it. Proposed computer is a "generic model" but is IBM compatible. <br />Mrs. Dixon will furnish a list of price quotes for the next meeting. <br />3. Legal <br />a) Amendment to City Ordinance <br />Mr. Oxian stated that while the commission has control of main- <br />tenance/repairs of historic landmarks, it lacks such control of <br />buildings in historic districts. The purpose of the amendment <br />is to enable the commission to better meet the needs of the <br />Building Department. It would apply primarily to the city and <br />would probably not be brought out into the county, since no his- <br />toric districts currently exist outside the city. Mr. Newburn <br />.moved to approve; Ms. Dennen seconded; motion approved. <br />4. Historic Districts <br />a) Meeting'with Lincolnway East (Report) <br />Mrs. Dixon reported on an "interesting" meeting with some of the <br />property owners there. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss <br />and to get a review of the guidelines for this neighborhood. A <br />liaison committee is required to do this; Laura Wiseman-Gnoth <br />agreed to serve as the head of the nominating committee. Mrs. <br />Dixon attempted several days prior to get a progress report from <br />Wiseman but could not reach her. Mrs. Dixon volunteered the <br />
