Appendix B HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION PROPOSAL: STUDEBAKER CORRIDOR The following information represents a consensus of the Historic Preservation Commission as discussed and approved at their meeting of May 21, 1990. The proposal is listed in a block -by -block format based on the attached map. A. The Administration Building and Vandalia Station should be retained. The northern and southern sections of the Transwestern building should be retained, using monies designated for demolition to repair the roof and windows and to clean up the surroundings, thereby placing the remaining portions of the structure in a more marketable position. B. No significant resources have been identified on this block. Any development would not affect known architectural/historic resources. C. The Borden building should be preserved and officially listed on the National Register. Any development that may occur on this block should be accomplished in a manner that does not adversely affect the Borden building. D. The Southern hotel should be retained. The roof should be maintained and the building secured, leaving it in an attractive fashion until such time as it may be developed for use. E. No historic resources have been identified on this block. Any development would not affect known architectural/historic resources. F. The Campbell Box Co. building should be preserved and officially listed on the National Register. National Register eligibility should also be investigated for 1013 S. Main. The other areas of the block may be developed as long as that development does not adversely affect these historic buildings. G. No historic resources have been identified on this block. Any development would not affect known architectural/historic resources. H. If financially feasible, residential properties should be moved to the 1300 block of South Main. Otherwise,
