M I N U T E S <br />Regular Meeting <br />February 19, 1990 <br />I. Call to Order <br />Third Floor Conference Room <br />County/City Building <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. <br />II. Roll Call <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mrs. Joann Sporleder; Mr. Jed Eide; Mrs. <br />Janeanne Petrass; Mr. John Oxian; Mr. Herb <br />Herendeen; Mr. David Chapleau, Deputy City <br />Attorney; Mrs. Lori Dixon, Director; Ms. <br />Mary Wikman, Research Assistant. <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Public Hearing <br />Mr. F. Jay Nimtz; Mr. Odell Newburn; Mrs. <br />Martha Choitz. <br />Ms. Jean Crumlish; Mr. David Emmel; Mr. <br />Thomas Panzica; Mr. Kevin Boughal, South <br />Bend Tribune. <br />A. ICertificates of Appropriateness <br />1. 601-617 Lincoln Way East <br />Because of a recent alteration in the plans for <br />the above-mentioned property, as approved by the <br />Commission at its January meeting, Mr. Thomas <br />Panzica appeared before the Commission to request <br />an ammendment to the original Certificate of <br />Appropriaten ss4 <br />The original Certificate of Appropriateness <br />permitted a standing seam metal roof. The new <br />proposal would utilize asphalt shingles as the <br />roofing material. Mr. Panzica presented samples <br />of the shingles he would like to use. Upon <br />conclusion of his presentation, Mr. Herendeen <br />moved to approve the project plans as amended; <br />Mrs. Petrass seconded; Motion approved. <br />Mrs. Sporleder inquired about the results of the <br />Board of Zoning Appeals hearing regarding the <br />screening of the property from across the alley. <br />Mr. Panzica reported that the BZA approved plans <br />for the screening and advised the HPC that the <br />Panzica Group would return to the HPC for approval <br />of other screening if such screening should become <br />necessary. <br />
