NEW BUSINESS (Cont.) <br />g. continued.... <br />The graduate students would need to <br />construct a landing at the rear exit door, <br />construct a solid barrier at the entrance to <br />the kitchen, construct a solid barrier at the <br />stairway that goes up into the ballroom, have <br />fire extinguishers accessible, turn on the <br />water and get the plumbing and heating <br />checked by the Building Department, and <br />pay all utility bills during their occupancy of <br />the space. The graduate students are aware <br />that they can be taken out of the former <br />Mark's Restaurant next spring, if the <br />renovation of the Palais Royale begins. <br />Mrs. Kolata stated that the staff would ask <br />that all costs related to occupying the space <br />be paid for by the graduate students and that <br />the Commission would not be responsible for <br />any costs related to this proposed project. <br />The staff would also need a Certificate of <br />Insurance. <br />Mr. Hunt asked if these contingencies have <br />been reviewed with the students. Mrs. <br />Kolata stated that the staff has mentioned the <br />contingencies to Carter Wolf from Center <br />City Associates and Jeff Gibney of South <br />Bend Heritage Foundation. Mr. Hojnacki <br />asked if the proposed project was being <br />attached to the University of Notre Dame. <br />Mrs. Kolata stated that this will not be <br />attached to Notre Dame. <br />Mr. Wolf stated that each of the students <br />would sign the agreement individually and <br />assume responsibility as a group.
