STAFF REPORT
Panzica Development
601-617 Lincolnway East
South Bend, IN 46618
PROPOSAL
The owners propose to revise the plans presented to, and
approved by, the Historic Preservation Commission on January
15, 1990. The alteration in plans involves changing the
standing -seam metal roof to an asphalt shingle roof. The
shingles resemble slate in appearance. (An example of such
shingles is on St. Anthony's Church on Jefferson Blvd.)
STANDARDS
B. Roofs and Roofina
Roof shapes in the District include hip and gable
types. All are covered with asphalt shingles. Eaves,
in most cases, have wood fascias with gutters and
downspouts.
RECOMMENDATION
The staff recommends that the owners be allowed to alter the
plans for the structure to use asphalt shingles rather than
standing -seam metal. The shingles will better tie the
building into the neighborhood, as all surrounding
structures have shingle roofs.
