Staff Reports <br />a. Meeting with DHPA <br />Mrs. Dixon stated that on Friday, July <br />20th, she would be meeting with the <br />state office to deliver the completed <br />grant products and to discuss the new <br />grants. <br />V. Old Business <br />VI. New Business <br />a) Trees <br />Mrs. Dixon stated that Mr. Arthur James has voiced <br />concern over the proposed widening of Edison Road <br />between Ironwood and Rosemary. The original plans <br />show several old oak trees being removed, including <br />some in front of his home. In his discussion with <br />the city, the city has stated that, under the <br />revised plan, only two or three trees will come <br />out. <br />Mrs. Sporleder moved that the commission write a <br />letter, documenting their age and significance. <br />The letter should be sent to the Common Council and <br />the City Engineer. Mr. Herendeen seconded <br />b) Landscaping <br />Mrs. Sporleder suggested that the commission <br />consider developing a survey of the important trees <br />and landscaping features of the city and, later, <br />the county (significant public landscaping). <br />Mr. Herendeen and Mrs. Petrass asked if there were <br />grant monies available for such a project and what <br />guidelines are available. Mrs. Sporleder suggested <br />the Urban Forestry grants. <br />Mrs. Choitz stated that the commission could have <br />some kind of statement that would describe the <br />types of features which would require notification <br />of the Commission prior to removing the landscape <br />features. <br />
