Mrs. Petrass asked how the park department is
involved in the street widening/environmental
impact statements. The commission suggested that
the staff determine who is conducting the required
environmental impact statements for these projects.
Mrs. Choitz stated that whatever committee is
responsible for such matters, should begin research
to develop a procedure and wording for including
review of landscape features impacted by city,
county, state, and federal projects in the enabling
ordinance of the HPC.
Mrs. Sporleder summarized by stating that the
commission needs to construct a method of doing an
inventory, develop standards for determining
importance, and develop an ordinance. They do not
have to be in that order. Perhaps an ordinance
should come first. Mrs. Dixon suggested that
perhaps such activities could be included in the
upcoming grant proposals (November 1990).
Mr. Pastor stated that the survey has encompassed
some of the more prominant features, such as brick
streets.
Mrs. Choitz suggested that the brick streets be
designated on some form of plat map or mapping
system for the survey.
Mrs. Dixon stated that she would contact the
National Trust to see if any other city has tried
such a method and try to see what could be put
together on a grant.
VII.
