D*C*-lipmVIE New Regulations Approved by Advisory Council on Historic Preservation Revised Section 106 Regulations which prescribe how to avoid adverse effects on historic properties by Federal agencies have been adopted by the Advisory Council. The regulations introduce alternative procedures that al- low federal agencies greater flexibility in developing ways to resolve conflict. The most important feature for local commissions is a new clearly defined role for the participation of local governments in the consultation and resolution process. Another important change is a greatly simplified proce- dure for determining whether a property is eligible for the National Register. The regulations will take effect on October 1, 1986.
