historic preservation commission <br />of south bend and st. joseph county <br />• <br />ROOM 1123 COUNTY CITY BUILDING <br />south bend, indiana 46601 (219) 284-9798 <br />November 7, 1986 <br />Contact Karen Kiemnec at Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend & St. Joseph <br />County, 284-9798. <br />For immediate release <br />JOHN DUGGER TO SPEAK AT HISTORIC PRESERVATION MEETING <br />On November 17, 1986, John Dugger will be a guest and speaker at the Historic <br />Preservation meeting. Mr. Dugger has been awarded an Indiana Heritage Research <br />Grant from the Governor's Hoosier Heritage Foundation to research Indiana sculptor, <br />Rudolph Schwarz. The sculptor was responsible for the War and Peace sculptural <br />groups on the Indiana Soldiers' and Sailors' Monuments including the ones in <br />Indianapolis, South Bend and five other Hoosier communities. Once the research has <br />been completed, Mr. Dugger will do a National Register application for the seven <br />monuments. <br />John Dugger, the Project Director, is the Properties Manager for Historic Landmarks <br />Foundation of Indiana. He was also the consultant who did the restoration of the Little <br />Liberty statue in front of the St. Joseph County Courthouse. He is coming to South Bend <br />to explain his project and to research the St. Joseph County Soldier/Sailor Monument. <br />He will make a brief presentation and answer questions at the Historic Preservation <br />Commission November 17 meeting, which is held at 7:30 p.m. in the 3rd floor conference <br />room of the County/City Building. The public is invited, however, please notify the <br />Commission office at 284-9798 if you intend to come because of space considerations. <br />
