Keyes, a native of New York settled in St. Joseph County
in 1835•
The Arthur Keyes residence is recommended for Landmark Designation for the
following reasons:
1. The house is one of the earliest extant houses within the city limits.
Originally built as a farm house, the house and property were incorporated
into the city in 1927.
2. The brick, tri -gable el house although simple in design and form is an
excellent example of the type of farm/settlement house built in
northern Indiana.
3. The house is rated S/11 on the city survey.
John & Anita Beaver, owners, gave written consent for Landmark Designation
on February 16, 1985.
Submitted by:
Elizabeth A. Straw & John Oxian
February 20, 1985
