Budget & Finance • <br />Ms. Kiemnec explained the grant request to the State Division of <br />Historic Preservation for continuation of funding in 1985 for the <br />administrative assistant (see Appendix A). With approval from <br />the Executive Committee, she sent in the application on its due <br />date, March 16, 1984. Mr. Hayes made a motion that the <br />Commission continue to pursue the grant; Mr. Newburn seconded; <br />motion passed. <br />b. Historic Districts <br />1) Lincolnway East <br />The Lincolnway East neighborhood committee reported that they <br />had taken a vote in their neighborhood for a historic <br />district. Of 17 votes returned (of a total of 35), 10 had <br />voted for and 7 against. Since a 51% majority of the <br />neighborhood had not been obtained in favor of the <br />designation, the Commission advised the group that in order <br />to proceed, they would need to have their councilperson <br />initiate the ordinance. The Commission suggested that a <br />meeting to decide how to proceed would be helpful and <br />promised to support the ordinance if and when it came before <br />the council. Mrs. DeLaruelle made a motion to accept the • <br />ballots from the neighborhood committee; Mr. Oxian seconded; <br />motion passed. <br />
