The Green/Wunderlich/Pine Residence at 322 West Marion Street, South Bend, Indiana, is
recommended for landmark status by the Landmark Committee and the HPC staff for the fol-
lowing reasons:
1. it represents an unusual interpretation of an architectural style (i.e., a
one-story Italianate which is normally two stories)
2. it is one of only two known one-story Italianate styles in South Bend
3. the original character of the structure has been well.maintained
4. the building is identified with one of the original settlers of the Sumption
Prairie area - Mr. John Greene who built this house and another one like it
for his children (other one has since been demolished).
The house is ratedl2 out of a possible 13 on the Indiana Historic Sites and Structures
Inventory.
•
•
