Appendix A
SMALL TOWN SURVEY REPORT
As the survey fieldwork is done, I am currently working on researching
each small town and writing its history. To date, histories on Osceola,
Walkerton, Roseland, Indian Village and Notre Dame are near completion.
In addition, my intern is working on New Carlisle. At the same time,,I am
spending about one day a week checking out the county survey. The reason
for this is to verify locations and addresses so that new maps can be done
for each township but also, I have found a few buildings which have been
demolished or which were not surveyed and should be on the inventory. So-
far
ofar Lincoln, Olive, and Clay Townships have been done and I will give a
full report at next month's meeting on buildings added to or deleted from
the survey.
If things to as planned, I hope to have finished checking the townships
by May and finished the histories by some time this summer. I will need
to meet with the Small Town Survey Committee soon to go over the histories
written thus far and then when the histories are in their final format,
everyone will be invited to take their turn helping to proofread. If the
schedule goes well, the book should be at the printers by the end of the
year.
