Historic Districts <br />1) 601 Lincolnway East <br />Ms. Kiemnec read the response from the Edgewater Place Neighborhood Asso- <br />ciation to the Commission's request that they be a receiver for the house <br />at 601 Lincolnway East (see Appendix A). <br />2) 639 River Avenue <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported <br />for 639 River Avenue. <br />asphalt shingle roof <br />c. Historic Landmarks <br />No report. <br />d. Legal <br />No report. <br />that she had approved a Certificate of Appropriateness <br />The owner, Richard Kennedy, will replace the current <br />with a new asphalt shingle roof. <br />e. Public Relations & Community Education <br />1) County Maps <br />Mr. Oxian reported that the County Maps are drawn up and ready to go to <br />the printers. <br />f. Environmental Impact Statement <br />Ms. Kiemnec related that she had sent a certified letter to Mr. and Mrs. Whitaker <br />at 52228 Gumwood stating that if the HPC has no word from them on their plans for <br />the porch of their landmark house, the Commission will request of the County <br />Council -in September that the landmark ordinance be rescinded. She reported <br />that Mrs..Whitaker cabled the Commission and said she and her husband will respond <br />to us by August.- <br />g. <br />ugustag. Staff Report <br />1) Small Town Survey <br />#is. Kiemnec gave a draft of the history of Woodland to the Small Town Survey <br />Committee. <br />2) County Survey Update <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that she had completed the County Survey Update and passed <br />out a list of buildings added to or deleted from the survey (see Appendix B). <br />31 National Trust Annual Meeting <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that the Annual Meeting this year will be in San Antonio, <br />Texas from October. 26 to 30. She intends to go and requested $90 for her <br />registration fee and $100••f6r the expenses. Mr. Nimtz made a motion that the <br />Commission pay for Ms. Kiemnec's registration and $100 for expenses; Mrs. <br />DeLaruelle seconded; motion passed. <br />4) Survey and Planning Grant <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that the HPC has been awarded a grant from the Department <br />of Natural Resources for $2,700 to do a Multiple Resource Area nomination of <br />the Central Business District of South Bend. Mrs. Sporleder made a motion <br />that the HPC accept the grant money and authorize the Preservation Planner to <br />hire a person to work on the Multiple Resource Area nomination; Mr. Nimtz <br />seconded._ Mrs. Sporleder amended the motion that the project be supervised <br />by the Committee of the Whole; Mr. Nimtz seconded.
