Appendix B
Policy on Abandoned Buildings'Ranked 11-13
An abandoned building is defined as any building in the city
or county surveys ranked 11 or better and being considered for landmark
designation that has not been occupied and maintained for residential,
business, industrial, agricultural, or other legitimate purposes for
one year or more. The Landmarks Committee Chairman shall contact the
owners of such abandoned buildings to request of them that they work
with the Historic Preservation Commission in having tht building
declared a landmark. In cooperation with the owner, the Historic
Preservation Commission shall encourage the rehabilitation or disposal
of the building.
If the owner of an abandoned building refuses the Historic
Preservation Commission's request for landmark status, then the Commission
may follow the procedures as adopted by Resolution No. 3 and recommend
the building for landmark status to the proper council.
8/13/81
Approved 3/15/81
