Historic Landmarks 1) First Reading for landmark Designation of 52060 Quince Road Mr. Oxian explained that he has tried to work with the owners to restore or sell their house which has been vacant for several years. The building is deteriorating and has not been secured as was ordered by the County Building Commissioner in 1980. Mr. Oxian hopes that by declaring the building a landmark, the Commission can work with the County Building Commissioner to have it maintained by the provisions of the Historic Preservation Commission's Ordinance. 2) First Reading for Landmark Designation of 13271 Adams Road - Ms. Kiemnec reported -that -she has spoken -to" -the new -owner and he -is -anxious to have the house declared a landmark. 3) LaSalle Square Mr. Oxian made a motion that the Commission send a letter to the owners of the LaSalle Square Shopping Center to commend them on their preservation of the tree in the middle of the parking lot. Mr. Hayes seconded; motion passed. d. Environmental Impact Statement 1) 52228 Gumwood Road Mr. Whitaker, the property owner, has had a large, two-story porch with column supports built without obtaining "a Certificate of Appropriateness or a Building Permit. The roof which was slightly pitched is not to.his liking and he intends to have i.t"torn"down. The Commission requested that Mr. Whitaker meet with Ms.'Kiemnec`and Mrs. Sporleder to come up with a new design to present for the HPC's approval at its.next regular meeting. Mr. Whitaker agreed. g. Staff Report 1) Summary Report Ms. Kiemnec reported that the second printing of the Summary Report is in and she requested help with collating and binding. 2) Small Town Survey Ms. Kiemnec reported that St. Mary's fieldwork has been completed. She indicated that she had requested that Sylvia Gillis work part-time for the HPC and Ms. Gillis agreed and will get back to us.
