Historic Landmarks <br />1) First Reading for landmark Designation of 52060 Quince Road <br />Mr. Oxian explained that he has tried to work with the owners to restore or <br />sell their house which has been vacant for several years. The building is <br />deteriorating and has not been secured as was ordered by the County Building <br />Commissioner in 1980. Mr. Oxian hopes that by declaring the building a landmark, <br />the Commission can work with the County Building Commissioner to have it <br />maintained by the provisions of the Historic Preservation Commission's <br />Ordinance. <br />2) First Reading for Landmark Designation of 13271 Adams Road <br />- Ms. Kiemnec reported -that -she has spoken -to" -the new -owner and he -is -anxious to <br />have the house declared a landmark. <br />3) LaSalle Square <br />Mr. Oxian made a motion that the Commission send a letter to the owners of the <br />LaSalle Square Shopping Center to commend them on their preservation of the tree <br />in the middle of the parking lot. Mr. Hayes seconded; motion passed. <br />d. Legal <br />1) Ordinance Amendment <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that the Ordinance Amendment which was to be heard at the <br />Public Hearing of the Area Plan Commission-- Meeting.on June 15 was tabled until <br />July. _Mr. Lew'Mc_Gann, President of.the-Comon Council_-,_:wil"l."calI a"meeting before <br />_.._._.._ _-.- <br />-that time,' -to discuss the matter. <br />e. Public Relations & Community Education - no report <br />f. Environmental Impact Statement <br />1) 52228 Gumwood Road <br />Mr. Whitaker, the property owner, has had a large, two-story porch with column <br />supports built without obtaining "a Certificate of Appropriateness or a Building <br />Permit. The roof which was slightly pitched is not to.his liking and he intends <br />to have i.t"torn"down. The Commission requested that Mr. Whitaker meet with <br />Ms.'Kiemnec`and Mrs. Sporleder to come up with a new design to present for the <br />HPC's approval at its.next regular meeting. Mr. Whitaker agreed. <br />g. Staff Report <br />1) Summary Report <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that the second printing of the Summary Report is in and <br />she requested help with collating and binding. <br />2) Small Town Survey <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that St. Mary's fieldwork has been completed. She indicated <br />that she had requested that Sylvia Gillis work part-time for the HPC and <br />Ms. Gillis agreed and will get back to us. Also, an IUSB student has agreed to do <br />an internship for credit this" summer and will work on the Small Town Survey. <br />h. President's Report.- no report <br />_+ Old Business <br />a.
