A second level bridge will connect <br />the two houses, with some other minor renovations, including a <br />new fire stair. The State Fire Marshall has given his approval, and <br />the local Fire Marshall requested the opinion of the Historic <br />Preservation Commission on the impact of the project on the historic <br />district. Mr. Stamper read the letter given to Don Sporleder and <br />the Fire Marshall, which was approved by the Executive Committee of <br />the Commission (appendix 2) <br />Mr. Oxian stated the Commission could have had more input into the <br />matter had the Commission designated the Markmakers houses historic <br />landmarks two years ago, when the owner dicussed it with him. <br />7. Old Business <br />Mr. Stamper read into the record a letter dated February 11, 1980, from <br />the Community Development Department, which rejected the Commission's <br />Monroe/Sample application. <br />8. New Business <br />Mrs. Price requested that the Commission purchase the book, South Bend <br />World Famed. Mr. Nimtz moved for purchase of the publication, se-onded <br />by Mr. Oxian. The motion carried. <br />9. Announcements and Miscellaneous Matters <br />Mrs. Price announced again the Indiana Governor's Conference on Downtown <br />Revitalization. <br />10. Hearing of Visitors <br />Ms. Barbara Shankerman made a presentation to the Commission on the <br />fate of the Odd Fellows Building. Due to the vast number of petitions <br />that have been signed, she urged the Commission proceed with the seeking <br />of historic status for the Odd Fellows Building. <br />Mr. Oxian stated we must give a clear direction to Mr. Stamper in <br />regards to the Odd Fellows Building, when going to Indianapolis. <br />11.
