Committee Report <br />Committee: Legal <br />Landmarks <br />Date: July 6, 1978 7:00 PM <br />Location: APC Conference Room <br />Members Present: <br />John 0xian, F. Jay Nimtz, Candy Peck, <br />Visitors; Mr. and Mrs, Arthur James, Mrs. Robert Rumph <br />Comments: <br />1) Because of the Lack of participants there was no discussion concerning <br />"The Protection of Natural Features; Should We -Can We?" <br />2) Mr Eckerle contacted the Bureau of Substandard Housing concerning <br />701 E. Penn Ave** They inspected the house and believe it is repair- <br />able, thus the Bureau will initiate repair order proceedings. Mr. <br />Eckerle suggested that the Commission withhold any action until <br />these proceedings have run their course. The owners have still not <br />responded to coorespondence. <br />3) Candy spent part of the day with Jeff Gibney out at Drewry's <br />Brewery with the awner, Chuck_ Derr, Mr. Derr is interested in <br />possibly getting parts of the Brewery on the National Register of <br />Historic Places and asked for our assistance. <br />4) The Committee looked at the plans for Mrs, Rumph's alterations to the" <br />G <br />landmark schoolhouse at 65014 U.S. 31 South and recommended that <br />they be accepted for a Certificate of Appropriateness. The Committee, <br />noting that the "B" standards remark "only one appropriate identi- <br />fying sign will be permitted per business", recommended that this <br />section be wavered because of the site's proximity to the road and -ft e <br />lack of --room for an ordinary sign. Too signs will identify the <br />bakery - one at the North and South ends of the Western projection <br />of the building. <br />5) <br />In hieing a replacement for John Stamper, Candy was asked to in- <br />quire with John Stamper, Crumlish/Sporleder, and the Notre Dame <br />Architecture Dept. for recommendations. <br />6) <br />The Committee reviewed the alteration and remodelling plans for the <br />Gollatz's house at 11518 Adams Road and recommended that a final <br />Certificate of Appropriateass be issued, A temporary C of A was issued <br />on June 29, 1978 because of emergency reasons. <br />7) <br />Committee will recommend landmarks to the Commission <br />G <br />
