March 21, 1977 <br />Page 2 <br />a letter from Richard Haupt, Director of Education Services <br />Division of the National Trust regarding the application for <br />the education grant proposal and he stated that it was under - <br />consideration and he would let the Commission know of the out- <br />come in early April. Ms. Kopezynski mentioned that she had - <br />spoken to members of the Trust at the conference she had re- <br />cently attended and they were very pleased at the quality of <br />the application. <br />Mr. Oxian then mentioned that he had received a letter from <br />the president of the National Trust referring to a possible <br />tour of South Bend during the 1978 convention in Chicago. <br />He read this letter to the Commission. He stated that South - <br />hold is likewise interested in having such a tour and felt <br />this matter should be pursued further. <br />6. Committee Reports <br />City Survey <br />Mr. Ted Wasielewski reported that there essentially were <br />no problems. He has been trying to get a report from <br />Brian Crumlish but was informed that he was out-of-town. <br />He said he would request a written report, and possibly <br />his presence, at the next monthly meeting. <br />Budget and Finance <br />Mr. Oxian reported that there was no report from this <br />committee. Ms. Davisson asked. about the submission of the <br />budget for next year and was told that it is usually sub- <br />mitted around June. Mr. Oxian then spoke about the $8,000 <br />and said it was up before the County Council and referred <br />to committee. He likewise said that he was also sure that <br />the Commission will get C.D. funds for the continuation of <br />the City Survey. <br />Historic Districts <br />Mr. Ted Wasielewski informed the commission that he had <br />spoken the previous week with Mrs. Charlotte Whittaker <br />5►, oft, of the West NorthgDrive of the possiblity of establishing <br />the groundwork for the possibility of designating the North <br />Shore Triangle as an historic district. He suggested that <br />a meeting be set up with some of the interested parties in <br />that neighborhood and directed the Planner to formulate the <br />necessary action. Mr. Crumlish should be instructed to work <br />with the Commission on the matter. <br />Mrs. Whittaker, who was in the audience, spoke about the <br />location and Mr. Wasielewski stated that the area encom- <br />passed Michigan to Lafayette to Wakewa.
