Stafidards and Historic Plan There was general discussion on the importance of formulating a historic plan. Mr. Oxian remarked,that a motion had been passed for the necessity of such a plan and that Walter Rinder- le had done some preliminary work on this. Presidential Report Mr. Oxian reported that he had talked to Al Stivers relative to setting up a meeting for the Search Committee for the position of Historic Preservation Planner. He felt that there had been enough persons who had applied for the position so that there was no necessity for advertising in the newspaper. Ms. Davisson, however, had reported prior that a one-time ad should be placed. Mr. Nimtz remarked that legally an advertisement for this posi- tion should be considered. He also said th&t Ms. Wendy Schlereth was going to submit some possible applicants. It was decided to place an ad in the South Bend Tribune in the classified section - of Sunday, July 31st, and have the County Personnel Director in- itially screen the applicants. Staff Report There was no report. 7. Old Business There was no old business to discuss. 8. New Business Mr. Oxian reported that he had talked with Brian Crumlish about the St. Joseph Hospital and discussed the possibility of setting up a meeting with himself, Brian and Mr. Tare concerning the old wing of the hospital. He said there is a possibility this wing might be destroyed, and he would like to convince them it should be saved. He said Sister John Francis should be contacted for the historical background of this building. Mr. Oxian then read a letter to the Commission from Ms. Joann Sporleder which stated that she would serve on the Commission as Architectural: - Historian. Mr. Nimtz moved that Joann Sporleder be named by the Com- mission as Architectural Historian. Mr. Rothermel seconded this motion and it passed unanimously. Her appointment is effective as of this date. Ms. Sporleder was duly welcomed back to the Commission. Mr. Oxian then spoke about new resolutions concerning loans for rehabilitation and restoration of residential structures. Mr. Oxian read part of this Act which appeared in the Federal Register, and which will become effective July 29, 1977. It was decided to send copies of this Act to all Commission members.
