South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting - May 5, 1995 <br />5. OLD BUSINESS <br />a. Commission approval requested for <br />Proposal from Design Packaging, Inc. <br />for property in the Sample -Ewing <br />Development Area. <br />Mrs. Kolata noted that the Commission <br />heard a report on the Design Packaging <br />proposal at the April Commission <br />meeting. At that time the Commission <br />indicated its inclination to accept the <br />proposal. They propose to purchase the <br />Transwestem site and construct a 42,000 <br />square foot manufacturing facility. The <br />proposal included selling their present <br />site on Niles Avenue to the Commission <br />for $325,000, with payments to be made <br />over a four year period. The staff <br />recommends accepting the proposal as <br />presented. <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Hojnacki, <br />seconded by Mr. Hunt and unanimously <br />carried, the Commission accepted the <br />Proposal from Design Packaging for sale <br />of their present location and purchase of <br />the Transwestern site in the Sample - <br />Ewing Development Area. <br />b. Commission ratification requested for <br />submission of tax abatement petition <br />on behalf of Design Packaging, Inc. <br />Mrs. Kolata noted that, based on the <br />Commission's favorable response to the <br />Design Packaging proposal, she signed <br />the Tax Abatement Petition on behalf of <br />the Commission as property owner so <br />that the petition could be submitted.
