Staff report on Disposition of Land in the <br />Blackthorn Corporate Park. <br />Mr. Riggs explained that Peterson <br />Engineering has submitted a proposal for <br />purchase of a 1.37 acre parcel of land in <br />Blackthorn Corporate Park. They propose <br />to purchase the property for $34,250. That <br />price is $25,000 per acre, the same price <br />approved for sale of land to Sullivan <br />Advertising. The site they wish to purchase <br />is located next to the Sullivan Advertising <br />site and just west of the lift station across <br />from Blackthom Golf Course. <br />Their proposal also states that they will <br />maintain the Commission -owned land <br />located between this parcel and the lift <br />station. <br />Peterson Engineering proposes to construct a <br />two -story, 4,400 square foot office building. <br />Mr. Eddy, Vice President of Peterson <br />Engineering, explained that the company is <br />an architectural /mechanical/electrical <br />consulting firm which started in South Bend <br />in 1987. They work mainly for the <br />telecommunication industry and their <br />primary client is AT &T. They presently <br />employ 12 people in South Bend. They are <br />expanding rapidly, hiring 12 people between <br />the South Bend and Kansas City offices in <br />the last four months. Their lease is due to <br />expire in a year and they are out of space. <br />Ninety percent of the company's work is out <br />of state, so being close to the Toll Road and <br />C; -20- <br />
