South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - March 17, 1995
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
a. Commission approval requested for
Resolution No. 1327 approving an
application for real property tax
deduction for property located at 3820
William Richardson Drive in the Airport
Economic Development Area (FDC
Graphic Films)
Mr. Beitzinger read the staff report on the
project. FDC Graphic Films, Inc. is a
manufacturer of pressure sensitive film for
the Graphics /Sign Industry Their process
involves the conversion of pressure sensitive
log rolls, which range in size from 48
inches to 60 inches by 250 yards, through a
series of converting machines which slit the
material to widths that vary from 1/32 inch
to 48 inches. The material is then processed
through a secondary application which
laminates and/or perforates the material.
Their project calls for the construction of a
new 20,400 square foot manufacturing
facility on Lot 6 of the Toll Road Industrial
Park. In addition, new machinery and
equipment will be purchased, and machinery
and equipment presently located at their
facility in Crystal Lake, Illinois will be
brought to the South Bend plant.
The total estimated cost of the project is
$685,000, $550,000 for the new building
and $135,000 for the new equipment.
Per the petition, it is estimated that this
project will create between twenty -five and
thirty (25 -30) new permanent full-time jobs
in the first year, representing an annual
payroll of approximately $500,000.
-4-
