South Bend Redevelopment Commission
VW regular Meeting - January 20, 1995
6. NEW BUSEWSS (Cont.)
b. continued...
business. The offering price of $50,000
is lower than the minimum offering price
of $40,000 per acre set by the
Commission in March 1993.
John Sullivan noted that J G. Sullivan
Advertising was started by his father in
South Bend 40 years ago. They have
grown and outgrown several locations
since that time. They now employ 14
people. Blackthorn Corporate Park is an
excellent location for the company.
Most of their clients are national
advertisers, who are headquartered in the
region, not just in the South
Bend /Mishawaka area. Access to the
U.S. 31 Bypass, the Toll Road, and the
j Airport make the location ideal.
J. G. Sullivan proposes to take advantage
of the natural topography and view from
the site. They intend to construct a
building that is two stories from the front
with a walkout basement at the back.
The building will be masonry on the
front and siding on the back. Counting
the walkout basement, the building will
be approximately 8,000 square feet. The
expected start of construction is this
spring with completion scheduled for
October 1995.
Mrs. Kolata asked if she was correct that
J. G. Sullivan will not be asking for tax
abatement for this project. Mr. Sullivan
confirmed that they would not.
-8-
