South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - October 7, 1994
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
f. continued...
Development Area, subject to satisfactorily
resolving the last item on their counter offer.
g. Staff report on disposition of property in
the Sample -Ewing Development Area.
Mrs. Kolata noted that the Commission had
previously received a proposal from the
Firemen's Credit Union to purchase the
former Policemen's Federal Credit Union
building and move it to Parcel 19 in the
Studebaker Corridor, adjacent to the present
Policemen's Federal Credit Union. We
have subsequently received an offer to
purchase the same lot. The offer is from
APPA Champion Soft Water Company, Inc. They
have offered $30,000 for the lot and propose
a 5,000 - 7,500 square foot building to
house their offices, retail sales space,
warehousing, and proposed water bottling
plant.
Mrs. Kolata noted that there are some issues
with the Firemen's Credit Union proposal
related to the need to relocate utility lines in
a vacated alley. It appears that the proposal
from Champion Soft Water does not require
the Commission to move those utility lines.
Mrs. Kolata suggested that the Commission
refer the proposal to the staff for review and
recommendation.
There was no objection and the proposal was PROPOSAL REFERRED TO STAFF FOR
referred to staff for review.
