ORDINANCE NO. 2.294/-93 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 7994-89 <br /> OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br /> ESTABLISHING THE NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR PROGRAM FUND <br /> (FUND 207) , APPROPRIATING THE BALANCE REMAINING <br /> THEREIN, AND CLOSING SAID FUND <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br /> The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, <br /> enacted Ordinance No. 7994-89, on July 10, 1987, establishing the <br /> non-reverting Next Door Neighbor Program Fund in order to provide <br /> grants to neighborhood groups for the purpose of funding all or <br /> portions of projects designed to enhance neighborhoods within the <br /> City. <br /> The Common Council has determined that the purpose of the <br /> Next Door Neighbor Program Fund has been met, and that it is in <br /> the best interests of the City that said fund be closed and <br /> any monies remaining on deposit therein be appropriated for use <br /> by the newly created Neighborhood Resources and Technical <br /> Services Corporation (NRTS) to provide additional support for <br /> this organization's efforts to develop strong neighborhood <br /> organizations in connection with the Mayor's Good Neighbors/Good <br /> Neighborhoods initiative. An amendment to Ordinance 7994-89 is <br /> necessary to allow for the use of these funds for this purpose. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the <br /> City of South Bend, Indiana as follows: <br /> SECTION I . Ordinance No. 7994-89 of the Common Council of <br /> the City of South Bend, establishing the Next Door Neighborhood <br /> Program Fund shall be and is hereby amended to expand its purpose <br /> to provide funding to the Neighborhood Resource and Technical <br /> Services Corporation (NRTS) to be used by NRTS to finance <br /> technical assistance to neighborhood organizations. <br /> SECTION II. The balance of $8,176.00 remaining on deposit <br /> in the Next Door Neighbor Program Fund (Fund 207) shall be and <br /> hereby is appropriated in order to fund the activities of NRTS, <br /> as provided herein. <br /> SECTION III. Upon the appropriation of funds herein <br /> authorized the Next Door Neighbor Program Fund (Fund 207) shall <br /> be and hereby is closed. <br /> SECTION IV.
