South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - April 15, 1994
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
r. continued...
Ms. Manier explained that the Homeless
Center, Inc. had expressed disagreement
with the Redevelopment Staff support for the
vacation of Tutt Street for Shafer Gear
Works' expansion. Homeless Center, Inc.
is concerned that if Tutt Street is vacated
they would not have access to their building.
Shafer Gear has agreed to grant them an
easement. Then Homeless Center, Inc. was
concerned that if the alley was vacated but
Shafer Gear never finished the acquisition of
the property and built its building, they
wouldn't be able to give them the easement
and they would have no access to their
property.
Ms Manier promised Homeless Center,
Inc.'s attorney that if the alley were vacated
and Shafer Gear never completed its project,
Redevelopment would dedicate Tutt Street
back. She would like the Commission to
ratify the letter she sent to Homeless Center,
Inc.
Upon a motion by Mr. Piasecki, seconded
by Mr. Sharp and unanimously carried, the
Commission ratified the letter sent to
Homeless Center, Inc. by Ms. Manier
indicating the Commission's willingness to
support the dedication of Tutt Street as
public right of way if the Shafer Gear
expansion does not take place.
-23-
COMMISSION RATIFIED THE LETTER SENT
TO HOMELESS CENTER, INC. BY MS.
MANIER INDICATING THE COMMISSION'S
WILLINGNESS TO SUPPORT THE
DEDICATION OF TUTT STREET AS PUBLIC
RIGHT OF WAY IF THE SHAFER GEAR
EXPANSION DOES NOT TAKE PLACE
