uth Bend Redevelopment Commission
pedal Meeting _ March 11, 1994
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
a. continued...
will that money come if we are depleting
$1.5 million annually? I would like
answers to all of those questions. Also,
what will be the admission charges to
this Hall of Fame? I question why
we've encouraged architecture that's not
in harmony with the existing downtown
structure. It's rather ghastly. It doesn't
fit in with the Marriott nor Century
Center.
Ms. Boaler also stated that the money
for the Hall of Fame fluctuates according
to the newspaper reports. It is variously
reported as $14,000,000, $15,800,000
and $15,500,000. She asked that that be
clarified. How much are we paying for
the storage of the collection of artifacts,
to whom are we paying it, and for how
long?
Ms. Auburn noted that all of the
questions asked by Ms. Boaler have been
discussed between the Commission, the
Controller, and the Mayor. She
explained that a guarantee of the bond
issue means that the guaranteeing party
will step forward and make the debt
payment if there are no other funding
sources. It is the Commission's
intention, as well as the Mayor's
intention, to fund the Hall of Fame with
corporate sponsorships. That has not
changed.
i
-8-
