To support the intent of the fair <br />process for those homeowners, would the <br />city development office consider releasing <br />funds for the homeowners from the <br />neighborhood monies so that each <br />homeowner can solicit their own appraisal? <br />MRs. KoLATA: We have not normally paid <br />for an appraisal. We have not provided <br />money for the homeowners. That is really a <br />private purpose for those neighbors. In <br />some cases people have gone out and gotten <br />appraisals on their own and spent that <br />money. In some cases they've just used <br />their judgement and their knowledge of the <br />neighborhood. <br />Ms. BLACKETOR: That's when they are <br />initiating that they want to sell their home. <br />MRS. KOLATA: No, not necessarily. I'm <br />saying, in response to our purchase offers, <br />people have come in with their own <br />appraisal in support of their counter offer. <br />And sometimes they have not spent that <br />money, they've just said, "Based on what I <br />know of land sales or ... <br />MS. BLACKETOR: So the City would not <br />consider that. <br />MRs. KoLATA: I don't think we would pay <br />for appraisals for everyone else, no. And it <br />would be at our direction. It would be <br />another appraisal bought by us and everyone <br />would still say it's our appraisal. <br />-17- <br />
