This will put at least 80 cars out on the
street that are now in the Shoppers Lot daily. As you
well know parking is a real problem in the downtown business
district already. Another proposed parking garage in this
area is not in the immediate future and is not a place
most short -term shoppers want to go anyway. They prefer
surface parking which they can get at Edison Lakes or
any mall.
I understand there are plans
2 blocks. It would make much
for on- street parking, either
parking around these 2 blocks
probably accommodate as many
from the Shoppers Lot.
to make a plaza around these
more sense to provide
perpendicular or angle
for 1 -2 hours. You could
cars as would be dispossessed
If South Bend Works Downtown and South Bend Plays Downtown,
why can't South Bend Park Downtown?
Please give this your serious consideration.
Ver truly yours,
R NALD GOODWIN
cc: Joseph Kernan
Carter Wolf
