South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - July 16, 1993
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
m. Commission authorization requested to
seek proposals for purchase and
relocation of the former Policemen's
Federal Credit Union Building.
Mrs. Kolata explained that the legal
notice provides for bids to be received
by 10:00 a.m. on August 20 to purchase
and relocate the former Policemen's
Federal Credit Union building. We
have had three serious inquiries into the
possibility of purchasing the building
and moving it. The building is in good
condition. The value listed is a value
based on the appraisals we had done for
acquisition of the property, minus the
land value. We don't expect to get a
proposal for that amount since whoever
takes it must incur the cost of moving
it. The specifications require the bidder
to completely remove all foundations
and clear the land completely.
Mrs. Kolata noted that if we do not
receive any firm bids to move the
building we will probably demolish it.
Upon a motion by Mr. Piasecki,
seconded by Mr. Faccenda and
unanimously carried, the Commission
authorized the staff to seek proposals
for purchase and relocation of the
former Policemen's Federal Credit
Union Building.
n. Receipt of bids for Disposition Parcel
M18 -5 in the South Bend Central
Development Area. (516 S.
