NEW BUSHMS (Cont.) <br />a. continued... <br />The five sub -areas have been subdivided into <br />sectors for planning purposes. The primary <br />goal for the north sector of the Southeast sub- <br />area is general redevelopment. There are very <br />few homes left and IVY Tech, Parkview <br />Juvenile Center, the Family and Children's <br />Center, and the park will dominate that sector. <br />The goal for the central sector of the Southeast <br />sub -area will be revitalization of the <br />neighborhood. There is a high percentage of <br />rental housing which is a major cause of the <br />residential deterioration. The goal for the <br />south sector will be improvement, <br />concentrating on urban design. The South <br />Bend Community School Corporation plans to <br />build a new Riley High School in this sector. <br />The goal for three sectors of the Studebaker <br />Corridor /South Gateway sub -area will be <br />redevelopment. In the fourth sector we will <br />emphasize strengthening existing businesses. <br />The goal for the Rum Village Industrial <br />District sub -area will be demucking, <br />environmental testing, capitalizing on railroad <br />access and by -pass access to encourage <br />development, and improving Olive Road and <br />land use along Olive Road. <br />The goal for the Sample- Indiana Industrial <br />District will be to improve the edges where it <br />abuts residential areas or the downtown <br />through urban design and deal with the <br />environmental contamination that is likely <br />present there. <br />0 <br />
