As of 10:00 A.M., the deadline <br />accepting bids on this property, we <br />received one bid. After cring the <br />Mrs. Kolata noted that the South <br />Tribune Corporation has bid $186,000 <br />the property, which exceeds the <br />name offering price of $65,000. The <br />includes a treasurers check in the <br />nt of $18,600.00 as a guarantee. <br />Mrs Kolata noted that the Commission <br />off the parcel as a cleared piece of <br />lani. The City will demolish the <br />theater. However, the bid specifications <br />indLcated that the City would look <br />fa rably on a bid that helped the City <br />deftav the cost of demolition of the <br />Mr. David Ray fran the South Bend Tribune <br />was present and made a presentation of <br />their proposal for use of the property. <br />The Tribune proposes to build a two <br />sto , 25,190 sq. ft. expansion of the <br />current Tribune building. The expansion <br />wil require vacation of the existing <br />alley. The expansion will consist of a <br />mail roan, bundle dock and pre-print <br />rec iving dock on the ground floor and <br />off ce space on the second floor. <br />Mr. Ray explained that the project will <br />allow the Tribune to expand and modernize <br />their distribution equipment. The ground <br />floor of the new addition will be <br />comiected to the current mail roan. The <br />outside wall will be partially demolished <br />to make one large machinery roan.
