There <br />w no objections and the items were so <br />Mrl Pocius explained the changes proposed <br />in Resolution No. 986. The present <br />ea.stern boundary of the Studebaker <br />Corridor follows a north -south alley <br />ch runs between Michigan Street and <br />Main Street. Resolution No. 986 proposes <br />to extend the eastern boundary to the <br />west right of way line of Michigan <br />Street. This expansion adds <br />ap roximately 17 acres to the Studebaker <br />Development Area. The expansion <br />wi &idor <br />allow the Studebaker Corridor <br />bo to coincide with the Monroe Park <br />po ion of the South Bend Central <br />De%relcpment Area. It will also allow us <br />to concentrate our efforts on the 1100, <br />1200, and 1300 blocks of South Michigan <br />Street. The South Gateway Improvement <br />Association supports this expansion. <br />Mr. Pocius noted that there is no <br />aapisition planned in the expansion area <br />at the present time. <br />Mr. Pocius explained that we intend to <br />sqport the existing viable coYmnercial <br />and light industrial businesses in the <br />Where there is significant vacant <br />lard, we would like to encourage <br />additional commercial and light <br />industrial use. <br />Ms, <br />Auburn opened the public hearing. <br />-4- <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON RESOLUTION <br />NO. 986 <br />
