We had set aside money <br />for public improvements related to Amtrak <br />using Union Station. Although the <br />neg tiations with Amtrak are moving <br />slm,ly, we would like to move forward <br />with some of the improvements which would <br />also help Mr. Smith complete the Union <br />Sta ion project. <br />We would like to lease the parking lot <br />adjacent to Union Station and make <br />inpravements to it. Under the Agreement <br />the lot would be available for parking <br />for Coveleski Stadium after 5:00 p.m. <br />Moncay through Friday and all day <br />SatLrday, Sunday, and holidays. If and <br />wher. Amtrak begins using Union Station, <br />the lot would be available to Amtrak <br />pations at all times. The improvements <br />to the lot would be made in lieu of <br />rent.. Mr. Smith would maintain the lot <br />and its availability for Coveleski <br />Stadium parkers. <br />The lease is for a period of five years <br />but provides for termination after three <br />y . If Mr. Smith chooses to terminate <br />it lefore five years, he will reimburse <br />the Commission a pro rata share of the <br />cos# of the improvements. <br />Mr. <br />Smit <br />asecki asked how the lot will be <br />steed available for baseball stadium <br />s.
