South Bend
Regular Me
elopment Commission
- February 23, 1990
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
h. continued...
: A blanket endorsement, then.
Definitely.
. That's dangerous.
Mr. ler: I'm Ben Tyler. I'm a Board
Pr ident of the WWCRP and strongly urge
the Redevelopment Commission to pass the
res lution. It is something that has
needed on the west side of South
for a very long time. It, very
sirply, gives us a tool and offers us a
vez,y good opportunity to go forward.
: Anybody else?
Mrs. Brabo : What I would like to say is
that. I don't look at this as a
prorosition to run out the minorities or
the small business people. I look it as
an cpportunity to develop more
opportunity in that area - in an area
that. has been refined and revitalized and
an area we all would be proud to do
business in and to live in. There is an
opportunity for each of them, even those
that are being displaced, to relocate
ere else, to always come back and
do husiness in that area. We're hoping
that. the climate will be so great that
they will want to come back and do
business in that area. Those of you who
havr= accused us by saying that we are
trying to drive out minorities and small
businesses, I don't see it that way. I
see it as an opportunity to bigger and
better things in a revitalized area.
. Anybody else?
Dr. tts: I'm Dr. Butts. I've had an
off' m for the practice of medicine at
118 4. Walnut (? Dave) for 43 years. I'm
now netired. I want to give you my
pers)nal experience. Now, usually a
reti ee, you try to sell your business.
-15-
