South Bend evelopament Commission
Regular Mee ing - October 27, 1989
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
a. conttinuea...
.y and then try to plan zoning
in that neighborhood, that you're
ig us protection, or that is a way
Lis could be changed without our
anything to say about it?
Mrs. Kolata: I think what he's saying is
that certainly it could happen.
Mr. Fleenor: That this is beyond our
having anything to say about it.
Mrs. Kolata: Well, what he's saying is
that it is possible that someone could go
foruard and make purchase offers and that
le in the neighborhood might accept
those offers. They would still have to
go through a rezoning, but it has
happened in the past that property has
rezoned once a substantial number of
pieces of property have been obtained.
We Tt ere trying to make the point at the
meet ing on the 18th that by having
RedE velopment designation and a specific
landuse plan established for that area,
that it was another layer of protection.
Mr. Fleenor: And our problem with that is
tha you were non - specific in describing
wha that was.
Mrs. Kolata: Right. Well, it was of a
gene ral nature and I think that is where
we reed to work that out. But I think we
made the point on the 18th that certainly
scm thing could came up that would be not
in the best interest of the neighborhood
that was private that no one could
control, or very little. I shouldn't say
no one could control, because, obviously,
theoning has control and so does
His ric Preservation.
Mr. Fleenor: On rezoning issues, how
many people will be notified and what
kind of notification will they get?
-10-
