South BendRedevelopment Commission
Regular Meoting - April 28, 1989
6. NEW gNINESS (Cont.)
7.
d. cdntinued...
.n a motion by Ms. Auburn, seconded by
Combs and unanimously carried, the
mission awarded the construction
tract to the Housing Development
poration for their proposal of
.8,800, including a $10,800
tingency. Mr. Piasecki did not vote
this item.
Mr. N' z recognized Robert Hunt and Carter
Wolf to explain a request they would be
making of the Commission at a later date.
Mr. Wolf explained that Center City
Associates would like to amend their contract
with the Commission for the Shoppers' Park
Free parking lot. The lot is losing
approximately $9,000 per year. Although it
was no intended to be profit generating, its
purpose was to provide parking for customers
of the downtown merchants.
Center City Associates' proposal will be to
amend the Contract so that businesses which
contribute to CCA may offer free
parking to their customers through a
validation procedure. Any other customers
would ive one hour of free parking and
pay fu any additional parking.
Mr. Rctert Hunt, Chairman of the Downtown
Merchants Committee supported Mr. Wolf's
propose 1. He stated that the lot is not
sere' the constituency it was intended for.
Preseni ly, it offers two hours of free
parking to anyone, including visitors to the
County ity Building and the County
Courthcise. Me validation process would both
provide an incentive for membership in CCA
and supply the merchants with a positive
Promoti nal item.
Mr. Nintz directed that this item be put on
the agenda for the next meeting.
-10-
•• r • r• `• ulb I
!• • • -• • 1
• of •.
