,'•4 4;',-,....
W, \e ACT/,s a 1,t r
c`
City of South Bend
Joseph E. Kernan, Mayor
Office of the Mayor
October 6, 1993
South Bend Common Council
4th Floor County-City Building
South Bend, Indiana 46601
RE: An Ordinance of the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
Indiana, Appropriating $1,271. 40 from the Coveleski
Improvement Fund for the Purpose of Providing Flood Relief to
the City of Davenport, Iowa.
Dear Members of the Council:
I am attaching for filing an ordinance appropriating $1,271.40
from the Coveleski Improvement Fund for the purpose of providing
flood relief to the City of Davenport, Iowa.
The Quad Cities River Bandits ' home stadium, the John
O'Donnell Stadium, fell victim to the devastating flooding this
summer experienced by Davenport and other cities and towns along
the Mississippi River banks. As a result the August 3 and 4, 1993,
baseball games between the South Bend White Sox and the Quad Cities
River Bandits, originally scheduled as home games for the River
Bandits, were held at Coveleski Stadium.
The $1,271.40 represents a total of $807.60 in private
donations collected at the games, and a $463.80 share of the
concession revenues generated at the games. Those concession
revenues would not otherwise have been generated were it not for
the River Bandits home games being moved to South Bend.
Thank you for your favorable consideration of this ordinance.
Sinc- e y,
I
oseph E. Kernan
Mayor
County-City Building • South Bend, Indiana 46601 • 219/235-9261 • Telefax 219/235-9892
