COMMUNIC %TIONS (Cont.) <br />c. uontD-nuea... <br />Fror�j: Sandra Parmerlee, Clerk <br />Board of Public Works <br />Re:j State Theatre Reroofing - Bid Opened <br />Date: August 5, 1986 <br />The Board of Public Works, at their meeting <br />held today, received the attached bid for the <br />State Theatre Reroofing Project. This is <br />being referred to you for your review and <br />recommendation. <br />Mr. iunt noted that the Board only received <br />one- id. It was from Slatile Roofing and <br />Sheet Metal. The base bid was for $61,360 for <br />a single ply roofing system with R -14 <br />insulation, covering of parapets, metal caps, <br />coup erflashings, sealing protrusions, ten <br />year leakproof warranty from manufacturer of <br />membrane with additional gipsum and deck <br />replacement, furnishing and installing cast <br />iron drain bowels, screen and various down <br />spou s. Also submitted were add on <br />alte atives for repair work of the fire <br />escaDee in the amount of $14,880 and repainting <br />of the fire escape in the amount of $12,370. <br />The dd on alternative bids came in <br />substantially above the engineer's estimate. <br />The engineer, Ken Herceg and Associates, <br />recamiends that the Commission accept the <br />$61,360 base bid on the repair of the roof. <br />Ken Herceg and Associates also recommends that <br />the Corrmission accept an additional $3,400 <br />charge for a 15 year material warranty with no <br />dollar limit for replacement cost. The total <br />cost of the roof would be $64,760 which is <br />2.4% higher than the engineer's estimate. <br />Mr, Donoho recommended that the Commission not <br />purchase the warranty until after the work is <br />comp eted so the same quality work is <br />performed whether or not the warranty is <br />Mr. Hunt stated he would follow -up with the <br />Board of Public Works to see if the bid can be <br />accepted with the purchase of the warranty <br />after the completion of the work. <br />-5- <br />
