At that time <br />the bids will be referred to the staff for a <br />final recommendation. <br />re NO._. .�. <br />Mr. Hun reported that the Design Review Committee <br />met several weeks ago and approved the design and <br />landscaping plans for Dr. John Harrington's <br />project which will complete the Block Six <br />development area. The project is a clinic /medical <br />office combination joining the seven other <br />facilities within Block Six. The Block Six <br />project was started in the mid 1970's by the <br />Commission after acquiring and clearing the land. <br />The CormLission also moved ahead to develop the <br />ameniti s package which consisted of the riverbank <br />park and the renovation of the old railroad <br />trestle for a pedestrian walkway connecting Howard <br />Park and the west bank of the river. There are <br />now app oximately 170,000 square feet of office <br />space contained in five building, approximately <br />200 apartments in Karl King Towers and a drive -in <br />bank all within Block Six. <br />Mr. Jarmts Childs, architect for the project, made <br />the pro ect presentation. Mr. Childs stated that <br />Dr. Har ington's development represents a 3,400 <br />square foot orthodontist office. It is one story, <br />incorporating brick and glass materials on the <br />outside and a sloped rough textured shingled roof. <br />Entrance to the building will be from the south <br />off of Cblumbia Street. The parking lot is <br />lowered and screened behind landscaping. The <br />buildinc is located immediately west of the Lowe's <br />buildin and the Whitcomb Keller building on the <br />east. The materials include natural colors with a <br />heavily landscaped site. The project construction <br />has begun with completion date anticipated for <br />late s r or early fall.
