Some intended parking improvements for the Opelika Building in the East Bank and Niles Avenue improvements will be put on hold for a while. Mr. Hunt stated that is not a major problem because the Opelika Building project is not moving ahead as quic ly as originally intended. Other work that waF, considered in the downtown involved some improvements to the parking lot behind Robertson's and additional curb and sidewalk work wi 1 also be delayed. Mr. Ga Seiber asked if Redevelopment is getting ahead of itself with the Coveleski Stadium funding when the bond issue has not been approved yet and the petitions are still circulating. Mr. Hunt responded that the fast track is necessary because it will take at least four or five months to complete the necessary acquisition and relocation work. Because the Stadium construction schedule is only 10 months, we must be ready to go. Also the Cit has to send a very strong message to the owners of the franchise, supporters of the Stadium and the general community that we are serious and committed about the project. The funds a located would be returned back to the project areas if the project was dropped. Nothing will be spent, only set aside. Ms. Heriandez asked what the status was of $250,00 committed for Avanti. Mr. Hunt stated he staff will recommend to the Mayor and Comnon Council that $100,000 be re-appropriated to the Bureau of Housing for housing rehabilitation for this year and $150,00 re- appropriated for a potential East Bank project involving the renovation of a buildin . 8.
