South Bend edevelopment ConTnission <br />Regular Meeting - October 26, 1984 <br />5. OLD BUS$NESS (Cont.) <br />a. uonuinuea... <br />Mrs Kolata explained that a bid was <br />previously received from Dave Blodgett and <br />Linda Crimson but it was withdrawn because <br />the could not complete the work this fall. <br />The staff received a quote from Chuck O'Neil <br />in the amount of $4,200 with work to begin in <br />mid November. The staff was referred to Paula <br />Patterson who was interested in doing the job <br />but would not be available until next spring. <br />The staff also contacted Rick Pitts who was a <br />former employee of the Department of <br />Redevelopment. Mr. Pitts submitted a proposal <br />in the amount of $4,300 and would begin right <br />away. Four of the Commissioners were <br />contacted by phone in order that the work <br />could begin as soon as possible before the <br />weather gets too cold. The Commissioners <br />au orized the contract to be awarded to Rick <br />Pitts with ratification of this action to take <br />place at today's Commission meeting. <br />It as acknowledged that Mr. Pitts is a former <br />employee of the Department of Redevelopment <br />but there is no conflict of interest in this <br />Upor a motion made by Mr. Piasecki, seconded <br />by Mr. Donoho and unanimously carried the <br />Co mission approved a proposal in the amount <br />of $4,300 from Rick Pitts for rehabilitation <br />of real estate located at 122 S. Michigan. <br />b. Comission approval requested for a <br />for rehabilitation of the L. Keen B <br />the 14onroe Sample Development Area. <br />Mrs. Kolata explained that the rehabilitation <br />involved demolitition and renovation work to <br />the breezeway at the rear of the building and <br />garage behind the L. Keen building in Monroe <br />Park. Kaser- Spraker submitted a proposal in <br />the unt of $9,743, Charles Brown <br />Maintenance Company's proposal was in the <br />amourit of $9,989, Murdock & Sons <br />Construction's proposal was in the amount of <br />$11,324, and George Podell was the fourth firm <br />contacted and they did not submit a proposal. <br />The taff recommendation is to accept <br />Kase - Spraker as the lowest and best bid. <br />-4- <br />COMMISSION ACCEPTED A <br />PROPOSAL IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$4,300 FROM RICK PITTS FOR <br />REHABILITATION OF REAL <br />ESTATE LOCATED AT 122 S. <br />MICHIGAN. <br />
