South Be4ting Redevelopment Commission
Regular - June 10, 1983
6. New Business (Continued)
c. Upcn a motion made by Mr. Robinson and seconded by RESOLUTION NO. 681
Mr. Piasecki and unanimously carried, Resolution No. REDECLARING THE EAST
681 was approved. BANK DEVELOPMENT
AREA TO BE BLIGHTED
d. Staff report on receipt of proposals for relocation of AND AMENDING THE
building currently located at 115 N. Niles Avenue. DEVELOPMENT PLAN IBS
APPROVED
Mr. Hunt reported that we did not receive any response
to Dur request for proposals. The request for proposals
outlined strict terms and conditions in terms of dis-
assembling, moving and reassembling that building in
the Monroe Park Industrial Area. It seems that we now
have three options before us: (1) to seek proposals
that would allow the private sector to move that build-
ing anywhere within the limits of the City of South Bend;
(2) to have Redevelopment involved in the move to the
Monroe Park area on a speculative basis; or (3) to look
at it in terms of salvaqe value. We are not making
any recommendations because we haven't had a chance to
look. at the figures and cost estimates in terms of
moving, diassembling and reassembling that building as
com red to new construction. I think our initial
fee ing is that they are pretty close when compared.
At e next meeting we should be able to give you an
ide as to what we are goinq to do.
It
was decided to readvertise for proposals for any
STAFF REPORT GIVEN
site
within the City of South Bend.
ON RECEIPT OF PRO -
POSALS FOR THE
e. Comnission.
approval requested for House Moving and
BUILDING AT 115 N.
Clearance
Contract No.. 8 with Southold Heritage Inc.
NILES AVENUE
for
a house currently located at 316 E. Monroe.
Mr.
Nimtz placed Mr. Robinson in the chair for this
itea
and did not vote on this matter as he is on the
Board
of Southold Heritage Foundation, Inc.
Mr.
Hunt stated that Southold Heritage is under con-
tract
with the City of South Bend through the Board
of
Works to handle an Acquisition /Rehabilitation /
Resale
Program funded through the Community Development
Block
Grant Program. With some modification in the
contract
between the Board of works and Southold
Her
tage the moving of the house at 316 E. Monroe will
be
eligible activity.
Ms. Gilman explained that she has been working with
Sou old Heritage Foundation and discussed the
pot ntial sites the house will be moved to.
-4-
