South Bond Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - May 13, 1983
6. NEWIBUSINESS (Continued)
a. (Continued....
wit your office for Griffin's Outboard Marine, Inc.
We ant to go on record in support of granting
thi abatement to Griffin.
Griffin is an occupant of Phase III of our Airport
Industrial Park and has been for several years.
They have always been good citizens and have been
an asset not only to the Park but good civic citizens
of 5outh Bend.
As we see it the big need today is for more job
opportunities and this expansion will result in such.
It may be a small number to start but a small number
normally grows to be an even bigger asset to the
community.
Also such an addition to their plant will add to
its value and as a result this will be an addition
to the tax roles thus compensating somewhat for
the abatement on both the existing facilities and
on the expansion.
In Griffin's is a national concern bringing
the Iddition
attention of persons throughout the United States
to outh Bend.
I h pe the Redevelopment Commission will give serious
con ideration to the Tax Abatement Petition.
a
Cordially,
Howard D. Bessire
Executive Director
Dn a motion made by Mr. Robinson, seconded by
. Piasecki and unanimously carried, the tax abate -
rit request for 3707 W. Lathrop was sent to the
anon Council with a favorable recommendation.
f
N.
rt on tax abatement
ber (Richard J. Ludy
t for
. Lee explained that the petition is requesting
rsonal property tax abatement for a four -color
inting press to be installed at Ludwick Graphics
c. The equipment cost is $112,000 and will
gate four new jobs. The location is in a
nnunity Development Neighborhood Strategy
ea which the city has targeted for improvements.
-4-
THE TAX ABATEMENT
REQUEST FOR 3707 W.
LATHROP (GRIFFIN'S
MARINE) WAS SENT TO
THE COMMON COUNCIL
WITH A FAVORABLE
RECOMMENDATION
