Continues... <br />f. <br />N <br />Mrs. Kolata explained that this resolution re- <br />lated to property north of Franklin School. South <br />Bend Community School Corporation has agreed to <br />selL us 1.65 acres at the cost of $17,975. This <br />resolution states that we accept the deed for the <br />pro rty allowing us to proceed with the closing <br />on he property. <br />Mr. Butler asked that the Resolution be clarified <br />to show.that the South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />is purchasing the property at a price in excess of <br />the School Corporation's appraisal. <br />Upo a motion made by Mr. Robinson, seconded by <br />Ms. Auburn and unanimously carried, Resolution No. <br />670 accepting a deed from the South Bend Community <br />School Corporation for real property in Monroe <br />Park was approved as amended. <br />Comnission approval requested for a personal ro <br />ert tax abatement request relative to an area <br />ccmnonly referred to as 2930 Foundation Drive <br />(South Bend Forge, Inc.). <br />Mr. Herman Lee noted in the finding that the South <br />Bend Forge, Inc., facility, located at 2930 Founda- <br />tiai Drive, is economically or energy obsolete, and <br />that obsolescence may lead to a decline in employ - <br />men and tax revenues. This obsolescence has caused <br />Sou Bend Forge to reduce its employment from 119 <br />emp oyees to 73 and the addition of new equipment <br />wil increase the employment level back to approxi- <br />mat ly 120 employees and possibly 40 -50 more if there <br />is 4 successful marketing of their products. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Robinson, seconded by <br />Mr. Piasecki and unanimously carried, the tax abate- <br />ment request for South Bend Forge, Inc., was favor- <br />ably recommended to the Common Council. <br />CSTtission discussion and action on Disposition <br />Par el #14 in Monroe Park. <br />Mrs Kolata explained that on September 10, 1982 <br />the Commission accepted a bid from Christman Con- <br />stniction for Parcel #14 in Monroe Park to be land- <br />scaped in the short -term and to go for construction <br />of a new office building in the long term.
