South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting - May 14, 1982 <br />4. COMMUNICATIONS <br />There were no communications. <br />5. OLD BUSI ESS <br />a. Revi w of bid ooeninq and staff recommend- <br />atioi to reject bid for Dis osition Parcel <br />#12 n the Monroe-Sample Development Area <br />and authorization to enter into purchase <br />a re meet with.the bidder. <br />Mr. Butler explained that only one bid was <br />rece ved for Disposition Parcel #12 and that <br />bid lad some technical deficiencies and must <br />be r jected. However, once the bid is re <br />ject d, we are able to negotiate with the <br />bidd r. The,bidder, Anthony & Frances Fortuna, <br />has orrected the deficiencies and the Commis- <br />sion can authorize entering into a contract <br />with them after the bid is rejected. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Robinson, seconded <br />by Mr. Donaldson and unanimously carried, the <br />bid Irom Anthony and Frances Fortuna for Dis- <br />position Parcel #12 in the Monroe- Sample De- <br />velo ment Area was rejected. <br />Ms. olata stated that Anthony and Frances <br />Fortuna have offered the minimum bid price of <br />$20, 00.00 for Disposition Parcel #12. They <br />plan to construct a building of approximately <br />15,0(0-20,000 square feet and lease the build- <br />ing to Harbor Metal Treating Company. Harbor <br />Metal Treating Company will operate a heat <br />treating facility employing approximately 10- <br />12 i dividuals. <br />Mr. Fred Boughton of Harbor Metal Treating was <br />intr duced to the Commission. He explained <br />that the company has production heat treating <br />facilities in Benton Harbor and Grand Rapids <br />and ill be doing tool and die heat treating <br />here in South Bend. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Robinson, seconded <br />by Mr. Donaldson and unanimously carried, the <br />sale of Monroe- Sample Disposition Parcel #12 <br />to A thony and Frances Fortuna for $20,400.00 <br />was approved and the president and secretary <br />of t e Commission were authorized to execute <br />all ecessary papers to complete the trans- <br />act, n. <br />-2- <br />THERE WERE NO COMMUNICATIONS <br />TO PRESENT TO THE COMMISSION <br />BID FOR MONROE- SAMPLE DIS- <br />POSITION PARCEL #12 WAS RE- <br />JECTED BECAUSE OF TECHNICAL <br />DEFICIENCIES. <br />COMMISSION APPROVED SALE OF <br />MONROE- SAMPLE DISPOSITION <br />PARCEL #12 <br />
