South Benq Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular M eting - May'], 1981 <br />6. NEW BQSINESS (continued) <br />d. Commission approval requested for Resolution No. <br />618, extinguishing Demand Note obligations of <br />RAHN Prop erties II, relating to the South Bend <br />M rriott located in First Bank'Center. <br />Mr. McMahon explained that on October 18, 1979 <br />the private developers for the hotel submitted to <br />the City, through Redevelopment, a Demand Note in <br />the amount of $10,000 to be released once they had <br />performed in certain areas. The original Demand <br />Note has not been located and in order to satis- <br />fa torily release that document, it has been de- <br />termined that a resolution by the Redevelopment <br />Co mission is necessary. The Developers have <br />co pleted all of the activities required and have <br />fi led their obligations and the City is required, <br />th ough the Commission, to release the document. <br />Mr Butler agreed that RAHN Properties II has done <br />ev rything that was required under the agreement <br />fo the cancellation of the note. <br />Up n motion made by Mr. Donaldson, seconded by Mr. <br />Ro inson and unanimously carried, Resolution No. <br />63 was adopted. <br />e. Adrding of <br />No 42 bid. <br />Demolition and Site Clearance Contract <br />Mr. McMahon expl.aired that bids were received and <br />opened on April 24, 1981 at 10:00 a.m. for the demo- <br />lition of buildings on the west side of Michigan <br />Street in the Century 111all area. The low bidder was <br />La Free Excavating at $74,444. The second lowest was <br />Ri schard Brothers. <br />The Chapel will be moving tomorrow and the Griffon <br />has, been temporarily relocated across the street in <br />one of the properties that we have. The Engineering <br />Department met with LaFree Excavating and reviewed <br />all of the requirements of the contract to make cer- <br />ta n they understood the full nature of the work and <br />ha n`t overlooked some items. <br />Th contract requires that work be completed within <br />fo ty (40) days. <br />5 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 638, EX- <br />TINGUISING DEMAND NOTE <br />FOR RAHN PROPERTIES II, <br />ADOPTED <br />
