South Bend qedevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - February 20, 1981
6. NEW BUSINESS
c. continued...
Mr.
Brown: I sure will.
Mr. McMahon: We have never at a previous meeting
got into debating one contractor versus another,
and we don't want to today. I think what the Com-
mis ion certainly wants to do is make certain that
you feel you are getting a fair shake. We set up
rul s to make certain that everyone is getting a
faiv shake. These things aren't always in place,
and sometimes; they come out of place.
Mr. Brown: What I have noticed out there seems to
be ome kind of personal vendetta to get rid of
min city contractors.
Mr.Nimtz: Not as far as we are concerned, Mr.
Bro n.
Mr. Brown: I am just telling you how I personally
feel. I am the only one who is left, and like I
say, right now it seems like there is some personal
venc etta to weed me out of here. I really don't
thi k I am wanted in the program.
Mr. McMahon: In the case of the loan situation, I
think that the only recommendation that should come
from the Bureau of Housing is, that list. And if
there is someone who doesn't merit doing the work,
they shouldn't be on the list. But if that list
goes out, that should be the list. Secondly, I
think that it would be for the benefit of the
property owner that those contractors who have done
work for us in the past, and have a good track
record, receive notification when we approve loans
so that they might have an opportunity to contact
the homeowner. Would you see any problem with that
Mr. Butler?
Mr. Butler: No, Pat, I don't. I think that is a
goo suggestion.
Mr. McMahon: It is not as though there are five
hun red contractors - there are not that many avail -
abl .
Mr. Cira: Listen, Pat, why do we have to recommend
any ody? You can go out and get your own people to
do he work.
l'i
